Hughes SSE provided offshore dive support to MACC EOD for EOD survey and identification, plotting of targets, and identification and disposal of EOD’s.
Hughes SSE was also tasked to remove a broken piling drill twenty-four metres below the seabed.
Tasks undertaken to date are:
Magnetometer and seabed survey
Target identification and disposal
Removal of large piling drill
“I would like to say a particularly special thank you to all parties involved in the difficult and potentially very dangerous task of recovering the broken drill from the last pile and enabling that pile to be driven to complete the works. I was enormously impressed by the team work shown and effort put in by everybody in pulling the risk assessments and method statements together in such a short space of time and in carrying out that operation with professionalism, care and attention to detail. The biggest thanks of all must go to the divers who carried out the operation in very tricky circumstances, effectively blind and 25m beneath the seabed yet in the end made it look like an everyday occurrence”
